Description
Solo travel is one of the fastest-growing segments in tourism, and women aged 50 and older are a large and expanding share of it. They are also on the wrong side of the grey digital divide, and the two facts are connected.
This conceptual paper links mobile technology use to three outcomes for solo women travelers over 50: digital self-efficacy, safety confidence, and social connectedness. It draws on later-life learning research, second-level digital divide scholarship, and solo female travel studies, then states three testable hypotheses and a mixed-methods design.
